The Newman Officers strive to support UMSL students with creative programming,
warm hospitality, enthusiastic outreach, and leadership in faith activities.
The Catholic Newman Center is an organization comprised of students from
the University of Missouri—St. Louis and surrounding communities lead by the professional staff
and a team of 6-10 students called the ‘Newman Officers’ who organize events.
We strive to help each other find and experience the God within ourselves and in the world around us.
We challenge each other within a welcoming environment of dynamic worship,
fellowship, and hospitality. We are called to be a Catholic faith community;
passionate about what
happens to individuals; disturbed by injustice; and impatient for the kingdom of God.
These are the officers for the 2009-2010

Trish Detwiler, Treasurer
Trish is a senior majoring in Accounting and may be taking a victory lap in order to sit for the CPA exam (that's a Certified Public Accountant for all you non-business majors). In her spare time, she watches entirely too much TV at Newman and eats all of their snacks. Although she is "facebook married" to a fictional character from her favorite show, she does care about connecting with real people and you can often find her talking and laughing in the dining room with her fellow students. She loves Newman, and thinks you should come check us out! And if you do stop by, you get free food and a complimetary Hi-Five!!! Trish can be reached at padm98@umsl.edu.

linda deposki, Member At Large
Linda is currently enjoying her fourth year at UM-St. Louis and her third year of being truly involved with the Catholic Newman Center. She is "delighted" to be a part of the officer’s team this year. In addition to serving as the Member at Large, she is involved with the Honors College and is also working on a special education degree with a focus in elementary behavioral. Due to this, she is not graduating any time soon and will be found chilling out at the Newman Center a lot this year. When she is not at school, you can find her working at Build-A-Bear Workshop in West County Mall, co-leading her 2nd grade sister’s Brownie troop, coaching the Bellarmine Speech Team at Our Lady of Providence grade school, or organizing and leading the 5:30pm Sunday Youth Mass at Our Lady of Providence. Working with the Catholic Newman Center "has been a highlight" of her time at UM-St. Louis. If there is any way she can help you or if you just want someone to hang out with, feel free to e-mail her at lkdvf2@umsl.edu or at Linda.K.Deposki@gmail.com. |

Mike Ruzycki, Service and Justice
Mike is a fourth year student at UMSL this year, and has tentatively decided that he will major in English and Spanish. In the meantime, he's studying a little bit of everything and a little bit of nothing...focusing somewhat heavily in English. He loves helping people with their work. Even if he doesn't have any idea what he's talking about, he can help you get the wrong answers! Mike first got involved with the CNC when he signed up for the Great Getaway his freshman year. When he walked into the house for dinner before leaving for the overnight, there was Ben Harper on the stereo, spaghetti on the stove, and all kinds of great people to talk to! He pretty much hasn't left since! Outside of the CNC, Mike is a big fan of, well, the planet. He always keeps a soccer ball and a few frisbees in his trunk as well as his unicycle. He also enjoys mountain biking, road biking, backpacking, camping, canoeing, etc. You can usually find him at the CNC, probably in the basement in the middle of an epic ping-pong battle or you can email him at mtryb5@umsl.edu. |
